Re-Roofing

Regardless of the material on your roof, it should be inspected periodically for signs of wear. It is a good idea to visually check your roof from the outside as well as inside the crawl space or attic. In most cases, minor problems can be repaired.

Begin your inspection by looking for leaks or water stains on the inside of the roof or insulation. On the outside of your home, split, missing, rotting or broken roofing materials may indicate that a new roof should be considered.

In wet and/or humid conditions, all roofing materials are susceptible to moss and fungus growth. If there is a small amount of growth it can be brushed off. We DO NOT recommend having your roof washed as this damages the roofing materials and makes the roof prone to leaks. Large growth of moss and fungus generally requires a new roof to be installed.

It is also possible to install new shingles overtop of the old shingles. However, we recommend removal of the existing shingles to ensure the shingles perform to the manufacturer's specifications and to keep your manufacturer's warranty intact. Installing new shingles over the existing ones can trap moisture from the old shingles and cause premature deterioration of the new shingles.
